It sounds very nice Dennis. I’m afraid my message is going to be short I’m typing with one hand and holding the phone to the airport in the other, I should be out there within the next 5 hours ……..

No, on a more serious note it does sound nice, and living outside the ex-pat community will probably workout to your advantage in the long term, a real community spirit.

I hope you get your 4 bed place, as my dear old mum always says ‘it doesn’t do any harm to know people in a sunny climate with spare rooms come summer’.

Dennis, I'm crossing my fingers here - that sounds like _the_ place!

(Then I'll find out where and drop by to check out those olives :)

And then again, you could try South Africa's western or southern cape. Cheaper if you're paying in pounds, euros or dollars; better climate; food just as good; some of the world's best scenery; and they speak English.

Who knows - Jaen province may turn out a bummer but we're going to give it a go. Hey Simon - I didn't think SA had room for any more clapped old fellas like me :)

Astrologically, this is a better time to buy than during your earlier house hunt, so I have a good feeling! Good luck, Dennis.

Wow - I didn't realise astrological influences had a bearing on house hunting! Talk about learn something every day - thanks Jack - we really needed to hear that. Let's hope it comes true.

My pleasure! They say Mercury retrograde is a bad time to buy houses, and if you start and ink deals during that period, you wind up buying lemons.
