Hi D, nice update on FB I agree on many points.

I like FB a lot, it's very addictive, primarily because of the people (i.e. it's where my network is right now, or at least a small part of it).

However I think they may be taking it to far, with all of the different apps that plug in, one's profile page becomes very messy. I like the idea of the reader app/ link blog plug in, but can't help thinking that colleagues etc.. are likely to take only cursory glances at my profile page, they are not likely to be 'following' all of that information, there is just to much and to many profiles to follow at that depth. Rather they follow the short messages on their own FB home pages about what their colleagues are up to.

Thus I think FB may be diluting their identity/profile play here, it may be better served by a trio of apps like :

    1)Profile/Identity app i.e. FB
2)Twitter for loosely coupled short blogging/messaging
3)A further wiki/blog/bookmarking combination app for meta info

Thats just my take of course and others would choose different combinations, but my point here is FB should'nt try to be a 'jack of all trades'. I also think that FB may fade a little in the future (over 12 to 18 months) as most of the social networks I have been a member of certainly have in the past.

    regrads

Yep - all those points are valid. I think it was Governor who said something like 'We're gadflies waiting for the next shiny thing.' Difference is I think FB is doing it right, even if the design is a mess. Even if it fall over then the 'investment' I've made isn't a killer.
