The problem is not so much that the total is wrong, but that it is that that people will remember later, rather than what the numbers actually convey. OR small problem, big impact.
I tend to categorise these problems as symptoms of the generic spreadsheet problem - and its a good example. There are tricks available to sort out rounding, but you have to remember to apply them, and if you are throwing calcs into a report you have to remember the impacts on other parts of the report, particuarly if you are creating dependencies on calculated numbers.
